Global Design & Scientific Innovation Summit

With the theme of Discover the City of the Future With Design, world-class designers, cutting-edge scientists, innovative business leaders and prospective investors are invited to combine science and technology, design and commerce, focusing on design, science and technology and city. They will discuss the relationship between design and science and technology, explore the future of design and talk about the crossing area between design and technology in rapid development. The purposes are to reshape human’s behaviors, achieve high-quality life and realize sustainable development in a context of increasing scale and rapid development.

In addition to Alibaba Group Chief Technology Officer Wang Jian, Chuangke Big Bang MakerCollider co-founder, Intel (China) maker movement founder Li Honggang, Yang Design founder Yang Mingjie, Guangzhou Grand Theatre designer Guo Zhenjiang, more top designers and pioneering scientists, innovative business leaders and forward-thinking investors who have a world-renowned reputation in the design field will attend the summit and deliver speeches, to bring together technology, design and business to solve more social problems at a realistic level and foresee the future together. 

Global Design & Scientific Innovation Summit is firstly unveiled in Hebei after Silicon Valley, Beijing and Japan. G-Summit is a stage where multiple disciplines, multiple perspectives, and multiple cultural ideas collide, and is the benchmark for guiding action. When research results in the frontier science and technology fields such as artificial intelligence, physics, chemistry, materials science, life sciences, and space science are transformed into industrial applications, when academic and industrial circles are interconnected, when the project attracts funds, everything is possible.

    Co-founder and Chief Editor of GWC

    Wang Jing currently serves as VP and Chief Editor in GWC. Before joining GWC, Wang Jing co-founded a finance consulting company, helping entrepreneurs and investment companies to dock effectively. Before that, she worked for acclaimed journals such as "21st Century Business Herald" and "China Business Journal" as a reporter and editor. Through her years of working in related fields, she has accumulated much wisdom and experience in the Chinese Internet industry as well as in the arena of entrepreneurial investments.


  • Chen Jihua

  • Yan Feng

    Partner and CTO of WM Motor

    Mr. Yan is one of the first people who dabbled in the Internet of Vehicles in China's automotive industry. During more than ten years in SAIC, Mr. Yan has been in charge of the informatization of automotive enterprises. During his tenure as the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) of SAIC Motor, he has became the chief planner and executive of the company’s strategy of the Internet of Vehicles.

    As one of the founders of Zebra (a joint venture of SAIC and Alibaba), Mr. Yan participated in and facilitated the overall negotiations in the partnership, which has also become a model of cooperation between carmakers and Internet giants.

    As the partner and CTO of WM Motor, Mr. Yan is responsible for the design, development and operation of software and hardware products of the intelligent network.


  • Wang Jian

    Chairman of Alibaba Group Technical Committee

    In September 2008, Dr. Wang joined Alibaba Group as Chief Architect, responsible for the group’s technology architecture and construction of technology platforms. In September of 2009, he founded Alibaba Cloud and took on the role of president, leading a team to develop a large scale distributed computing system—Apsara. He also oversaw the construction of an Internet scale, general purpose computing platform and completed the commercialization of cloud computing services. In the same year, he began implementing Alibaba Group’s de-IOE strategy. In September 2012, Dr. Wang became Alibaba’s Chief Technology Officer. In April of 2016, he proposed the concept and framework of the City Brain, and began working on the world’s first City Brain project in Hangzhou. Just like electricity and roadways, the City Brain will become a new form. In August 2017, Dr. Wang launched Xuelang Town in Wuxi to promote the integration of manufacturing and the Internet, and encourage the Internet and data to become a new foundation for manufacturing. In 2014, he was listed as one of the China Central Television Top 10 Nationwide Science and Technology Innovators of the Year. 


  • Jamy Yang

    Founder of YANG DESIGN and YANG HOUSE, Influential Chinese Designer by Forbes

    A former employee in Siemens’ Munich design headquarter, Jamy Yang received master degree of industrial design from Germany with full scholarship of WK Foundation after 7-year study in Zhejiang University and China Academy of Art.  Jamy’s design dedication has brought him international recognition, hundreds of design awards including Red Dot, iF, G-Mark, IDEA and DFA Silver etc. He has been listed as “Influential Chinese Designer” on Forbes.

    He founded YANG DESIGN in 2005, a very forward-thinking design consultancy in China. In 2013, he established his private industrial design museum—YANG DESIGN MUSEUM. In 2015, he started to build a lifestyle brand “YANG HOUSE” and contribute in Chinese traditional craftsmanship’s redesign and revival.

    With a combination of German logic thinking and Chinese humanistic spirit, Jamy has formed his own design philosophy and become partner with renowned global brands including Boeing, Audi, Bosch, NATUZZI, Pepsi, Steelcase, Issey Miyake, Swatch etc, projects covering cross categories from glasses and suitcase, consumer electronics, home products to airplane cabin. A series of CSR projects working with NOGs like Green Peace, One Foundation and Animals Asia Foundation presents his belief of taking social responsibilities as the role of designer.

    Can design change the society? This has been a challenging issue that he has been committed into action!

    In May 1991, Xu Gehui ranked first in the CCTV Youth Amateur Hosting Competition, and the she had been involved in the TV field since then. From 1991 to 1995, she worked at CCTV and hosted various types of regular columns as well as large-scale special programs and evening parties. In 1994, she was named Top Ten Popular Host in China. In 1996, she left CCTV to join Hong Kong Phoenix TV. In 2000, she began to host the interview program "Celebrity Face to Face" to this day.


  • Yang Fujiang

    Mr. Yang is a first class broadcaster of national level and passed TEM-8.

    Now he hosts a morning news program called World Economy, as well as hosting a professional talk show called Beijing Business Report in BTV. He graduated from Communication University of China in 2010.


  • Cynthia Zhang

    Founder of FutureX Capital

    Ms. Zhang was a Head of Private Equity at China Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited (“ChinaAMC”), and established the private equity investing business for ChinaAMC.

    Ms. zhang led the founding of FutureX Capital in 2017, focusing on investments in Artificial Intelligence , Big Data application, Intelligent Manufacturing, Internet of Things and other areas. Since its founding, FutureX Capital has completed more than $200 million of project investment, including: Kingsoft cloud, Bytedance, Gridsum, Xiaomi, Meituan, Spotify and NIO.

    Ms. Zhang joined ChinaAMC in 2009, is experienced in the research and investment in Chinese and international companies, and has accumulated a wealth of experience in capital markets. Since 2011 she focused on the primary market, particularly in middle to late stage alternative investments in China and China-related projects, leading private equity funds that focused on the linkage between the primary and secondary markets, including middle to late stage private equity investments, pre-IPO, private placement in public companies, and privatization of listed companies. She invested many new economy leading enterprises, such as TMT pre-IPO like Alibaba, Meitu, Dianping.com and Kingsoft Cloud and medical field such as WuXi AppTec, totaling 15billion RMB in size and single project IRR of over 50%.

    Ms. Zhang held various roles with Merrill Lynch, UBS Group AG and a Boston top-tier fund. In her freshman year at Fudan University she received a scholarship from the government of Singapore and continued her studies there. Ms. Zhang holds a Bachelor in Computer Science (with honours) from National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration degree from Hult International Business School. She is currently pursuing an Executive MBA degree at the PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University.

    Ms. Zhang is a class committee member at the inaugural class of GASA University.

    Mao Daqing is the member of the 8th and 9th National Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology, working consultant of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Overseas Chinese Affairs of the Beijing CPPCC, the Consultant of the Beijing Municipal People's Government, the President of the Beijing Youth Chamber of Commerce, the President and the Vice Chairman of the 2005 Committee of the WRSA Chamber of Commerce, the Vice-Chairman of the China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce, the Standing Committee of the Beijing Youth Federa, the executive director of the Center for China and Globalization, the academic committee of Pangu think tank and the independent director of Jinhai Ecological Estate.   • Hu Yanli

    the National Chief Editor of NetEase Home and NetEase Design, the Expert & Consultant of C FOUNDATION, Deputy Secretary-General of China Interior Decoration Association Art Professional Committee

    Hu Yanli has accumulated thick industrial experience and broad networking in the home field. Personally, Hu boasts several years of media operation experience in this aspect. Her characteristics are frank and straightforward, staying calm and objective in face of emergencies. She is a media staff with “attitude” in China’s home industry. Her communication style is characterized by “opinion highlight”. Hu is good at integrating and grafting a wide range of resources and cross-platform and cross-field linkage and broadcasting cooperation. With strong expertise, she demonstrates objective insights and recognitions on the development of China’s home industry. Hu was given the title of “2014 ‘Dayan Award' Ten Outstanding Females in China’s Home Industry” on the 2nd China Home Industry Development Annual Meeting ("Oscar" Awards Ceremony in the home industry).She also received the "2016 China Decoration Design Industry Ten Outstanding Youth Award" on the 1st Dragon Design Foundation Award. And received the “China Design Industry Ten Outstanding Youth Nomination Award” on the 13th Dragon Design Foundation Award in 2017.


  • Honggang Li

    Founder of Intel Maker Collider, founder of Intel (China) Maker Campaign

    Li Honggang, graduated from the School of Astronautics HIT and the School of communication engineering, Jilin University.

    He was responsible for a series of new technologies at the Intel Open Innovation Center such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, wearables, robots, and the Internet of Things, as well as the open source tool software SmartNode/AI.

    Li Honggang served Intel in 2007-2015 and has long been responsible for the development of Intel wireless broadband technology standards, with more than 50 international patents.


  • Chen Yan

    General Manager of User Research and Experience Design Department of Tencent, Professional designers, Tencent Distinguished Lecturer/Vice President of Digital Guangdong Network Construction Co., Ltd.

    Joined Tencent in 2003, Chen Yan is Tencent's first full-time interaction designer and user research engineer, led the design of QQ, QQ.COM, QQ music, Tencent Video, QQ Browser, Tencent Charitable Foundation, Way to Evolve, 99 Charity Day, QQ Space, QQ Games, Weibo and many other successful products and activities of China's Internet. Through the massive user product research projects (such as WeChat, etc.) and China Netizen Basic Research projects, she has accumulated years of research experience and created Internet-specific research tools and platforms. She has also introduced traditional research and evaluation methods, established a high-reliability product experience evaluation system and industry research methods for Internet products based on Internet attributes, and witnessed the development of Internet products from zero to hundreds of millions of users. In terms of technology exploration, she has established the team in the direction of the "Internet Bank User Experience Lab", "Internet Insurance User Experience Joint Lab", "Social Advertising Brand and User Experience Research Lab" and "Internet Public Charity" "Digital Guangdong Product Planning and Design Department", cultivated talents and accumulated experience in service design for C-end, B-end and G-end.


  • Li Fenglang

    General Manager and Chief Designer at L+Design

    Li Fenglang is Master's tutor of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Visiting Professor of Harbin University of Technology and Executive Director of China Industrial Design Association.

    L + Design is a designer product brand, founded by Mr. Li Fenglang, mainly committed to China's modern environmental product design under the international context.

    Mr. Li has 25 years of experience in industrial design and  served as Senior Director of Consumer PC Design for Lenovo previously.

    During the 18 years from 1999 to 2017, he was responsible for the design of commercial and consumer products such as Lenovo PC and notebook, covering 165 countries with sales turnover of $15 billion. He has created a number of popular product brands such as YOGA, which has been followed up by others in the industry. In the past 10 years, he has shaped  industry design leadership for Lenovo PC.

    Li Fenglang and his team have won 165 International Design Awards in the past ten years. As the core design leader, he was awarded the Best Design Team Award of Germany Red Dot in 2013, the Best Team Award of China Red Star in 2006 and 2015, the Annual Best Designer, the Best Designer of Guanghua Foundation in 2009, and the Best Designer of China Industrial Design Association in 2015.

    Mr. Li Fenglang has been actively engaged in promoting modern Chinese design in the international context. As the chief designer and designer of the torch for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Li Fenglang led his team to design the torch with Chinese characteristics, which has become a time-tested and museum collection of design works.

    Before joining Lenovo, Mr. Li Fenglong taught in Harbin University of Technology from 1992 to 1999 and took up the teaching of industrial design.

  • Guo Xia

    Dean of Neonatal Economics Institute and Founder of Neonatal Economics

    Guo Xia, a graduate of Peking University and the Central Party School, was the Secretary-General of the Chinese Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences, the Director of the Institute of Market Economy of the Chinese Academy of Management Sciences, the Director of the Institute of New-born Economics of Beijing Kaida Economist Consulting Center, and the Chief Economist of the Advisory Center of Chao Yue Zhi Lu. He is currently a researcher at the China Strategic Research Center of Peking University, the chief economist of the Central Enterprise E-Commerce Alliance, the chief economic adviser of the China Overseas Investment Federation, the economic adviser of the China Electric Promotion Association Nuclear Energy Branch, and the consultant of the China Satellite Global Service Alliance.

    As a Chinese economist, Guo Xia's main achievement is the creation of the original new economics, the representative work is Decoding Economy. Neo-economics is a global economics based on cosmopolitan economics. It is a highly forward-looking future economics. Its research theory is helpful to promote the process of human economic globalization from a scientific point of view and guide the study of global economic strategy and economic policy with cosmopolitan economic theory.


  • Wang Zhong

    Dean of School of City Design, China Central Academy of Fine Arts

    Wang Zhong was born in January 1963 in Beijing. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 1988. At present, he is a professor and the dean of the School of City Design at CAFA, Ph.D. supervisor, Director of the CAFA Public Art Research Center, Consultant of the Committee of Expert Consultants of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Committee of Urban Sculpture Art,  Executive Director & Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Association of Sculpture, President of the Academy of the Sculpture of Chinese Arts and Crafts Association,  Committee Member of International Organization of Dynamic Arts.

    Wang Zhong has numerous achievements in the art realm. He has won many National Level Art awards, including the Outstanding Contribution Award of Chinese Environmental Art, Xu Beihong Chinese Sculpture Award and the Achievement Award of New China Urban Sculptures Construction of the Past Six Decades.

    His works have been exhibited at art exhibitions both in China and abroad, such as the Beijing International Biennale Fine Arts Exhibition, Chinese Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition in Paris, Chinese Contemporary Sculpture & Art Installations Exhibition in the U.S. He has published several books like the Introduction to Public Art, The Culture of Olympic Games & Public Art, Chinese Public Art Document Compilation, Public Art Exhibition Works, “Occurrence and Voice-Chinese Public Art Academic Paper Collection, China Public Art Interview, and dozens of articles and papers.

    As the academic leader of the public art field of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Professor Wang Zhong has been committed to the research on the public art field for both domestic and abroad for more than ten years. In 2000, the Central Academy of Fine Arts Department of Sculpture founded China's first public art undergraduate teaching studio. In 2005, Wang Zhong founded the Department of Public Art at the School of Urban Design, Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2007, he presided over the "Comparison of Investment Policies for Public Art in Domestic and International Cities" project commissioned by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. In 2008, he was appointed as coordinator of the 29th Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony planning work. His work "Driving the Wind" has been permanently placed in the National Olympic Park. He won the "Honorable Work Award," bestowed by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee. He presided over the Shanghai World Expo Park public art design work in 2009. He also presided over the Beijing Metro line 8,9,14,15, and Qingdao Metro line M3, M2 public art project from 2011 to 2016. He chaired the planning and design of public space art in the Beijing CBD core area in 2015, and he has been in charge of the Beijing New Airport public art overall planning in 2016. He was the curator of the China Public Art Exhibition hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture in 2016. In 2016 he presided the First Public Art and Urban Design International Forum, suggested the idea of AUD (Art oriented Urban Design).In 2017 he was the general director of the City for Tomorrow Conference 2017- 2nd Public Art and City Design International Summit. He also brought up the idea of “Soft City", leading city design and development with artistic thoughts, activate, renew the quality of public city space, create the city’s spirit and cultural quality, Build a pleasing and colorful space and system for human activities, foster innovation impetus and create sustainable economic and social values and cultural heritage.

  • Wen Chu

    Founder, Chairman and CEO of Great Wall Club, Founder of GASA University, Angel Investor

    GWC is a significant platform to connect innovators from all over the world. It has more than 700 outstanding members including Jun Lei from Xiaomi, Pony Ma from Tencent, Robin Li from Baidu, Wei Cheng from Didi and Sheng Fu from Cheetah Mobile. GMIC is the largest and most influential technology and innovation conference in the world.

    GASA University’s mission is “New Scientific Renaissance”, and the motto is “No Education, Only Learning”. It devotes to becoming an innovative university that cultivates the scientific spirits for entrepreneur students.

    Wen Chu is the angel investor of Xiaopeng Motors, Lychee FM and Bijixia. He has published a book Bu Dong. Knowing that there is no depth, he hopes to use his lifelong efforts to broaden the breadth of life and extend the length of time. He called himself “World Little Postboy”, since he mocks himself that the things he has done are so important that is comparable to Columbus who discovered the New World through a new route on the sea. He loves to travel around the world, reading, writing, calligraphy, golf, skiing, playing the chess and making friends.


  • Guo Zhenjiang

    Designer of Guangzhou Opera House

    Guo Zhenjiang graduated from University College London (UCL) in 2004 with a Master's Degree in Architecture. In the same year, he joined ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS as an architect until 2017. His duty covers the design, fabrication and construction of city, architecture, interior, furniture and products. Major projects include the Guangzhou Opera House, the Innovation Building of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Meixi Lake International Cultural and Art Center in Changsha. He also participates in numerous domestic and international competitions and exhibitions.
